The article I read talks about fast food and how young teens are eating fast food alot and its not good for them. Most fast food companies publicly own and sprinkled in to the stocks porfolius of many striving Americans. One of every four hamburgers sold by the good foilks at McDonals. For example is now purchased by inner city consrumer who disproporntionately are young black men.
It was the poor and thier increasing need for cheap meals consumed twice outside the home that fueled the development of what may well be the most important fast food innovation of the past twenty years. I think the author had some good ideas in the article because he started some trueth about fast food and how most kids are consuming fast food twice a day and thats not good at all.
I feel like teens shouldn't eat fast food alot because its not healthy and people don't know how much fat sugar and salt is in there food. For example the total caloric content three of the meals has been jacked up from 680 calories to more then 1,340 calories. According to the very generous U.S dietary guidelines , 1,340 calories represent more than half of a teenagers recommended daily caloric consumption and the added calories themselves are poor protien and rich fat and carbohydrate.

the net is the real world

On sept.28 police arrested two Rutgers University students, Dharun Ravi and Molly Wei on invasion of privacy charges. According to the police report Ravi activated a webcam in the dorm room the Ravi and 18 year old Tyler Clementi shared on sept. 19. Images of Clementi another streamed live on the internet. Clementi soon found out about it. New Jersey privacy law makes it a crime to transmit or view nude images or sex acts of someone without that person’s approval.

Connectsafety co-director Anne Collier pointed out that this story is not about technology, but inhumanity. But the fact that technology was involved does change the equation somewhat. When it comes down to bullying the internet can encourage what psychologists call disinhibition. For example people can make up a fake email address or facebook or myspace or instant message and bother you intill u can’t take it any more and go crazy because soem one wants to bother you and you didnt even do nothing to them. People can also stalk you and tell you information that you never told no one about. This happens to alot of people every day and that drives them to the edge so that may kill them self.

Such as defamation, impersonation, or just plain mean, cyberbullies can inflict mental anguish that can hurt worse than physical wounds because cyberattack can reach a vast audience and it can haunt the victim forever. It can follow children home from school and possibly for the rest of there lives. And it can affect the different people in different ways. Some people can deflect situations better then others. How they react depends on the host of factors the perpetrator often can’t possiblypredict. At least in a school yard brawl, a bully can see his or her victim suffer. Online bullies may never know how much suffering they’re inflicting intill something really bad happens..

All of which might be lessened if you had acess to a grocery store. Half of all neighborhoods comprised of people of color lack acess to a full service grocery or supermarket. Summary of Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave”

In Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave,” Socrates is tell how how they was kept in a crave from there childhood. They say that human beings living in an under ground den. Then has a mouth open towards the light and reaching all along the den. Here these people have been there since they were children. Thier legs and necks chained so that they are not able to move. They can only see before them and plus being prevented by the chains from turning their necks around.  Behind them burns a fire.  Between the fire and the prisoners there is a parapet, along which puppeteers can walk. The puppeteers, who are behind the prisoners, hold up puppets that cast shadows on the wall of the cave. The prisoners are unable to see these puppets, the real objects, that pass behind them. The figures of animals made of wood and stone and various materials. He also talks about how when people come fromt the cave into thge light the see how the workld looks and how much more different it then liven in a cave and how they feel so amaze to learn about the out side of the cave. Then he says that they have  to kill the people that come out of the cave try to share there knowlege of the new world they have saw. The people watch shadows projected on the wall by things passing in front of a fire behind them, and begin to ascribe forms to these shadows. According to Plato, the shadows are as close as the prisoners get to seeing reality. He then explains how the philosopher is like a prisoner who is freed from the cave and comes to understand that the shadows on the wall are not constitutive of reality at all, as he can perceive the true form of reality rather than the mere shadows seen by the prisoners.
My Place in the Cave
Living in ignorance reminds me of being in a "cave" chained to what you only know; people who do not want to learn new things remind me of the prisoners in the passage who knew nothing more than images reflected by fire, these chains represent complacement and unwillingeness to learn. Personally I am coming out of the “cave”, I started a new experience and can felicitate myself on this change. I am now looking at a new day with bright light, standing in this new light reminds me of just seeing the sun for the first time, this glisten blinds me. By not following through with my education I was chained by ignorance, I lived in a “Cave” as if I was facing in only one direction and couldn't move. I’ve personally made the effort to enter school with a brighter thought in my mind and convinced myself after so many false attempts, that this is it, I am ready for this new world. I am willing to prove myself and to step forward into a new light so I can teach others what I have learned and what my experiences will be over the period of my success. After all, when I remember my old habitation I can't see myself going back into the "cave" I once came out of.
These people are symbolized in the passage by the released prisoner  who had the chance to see light and went back to share his new knowledge with his pals but they could not understand him because they ignored reality. Socrates said “My opinion is that in the world of knowledge the idea of good appears last of all, and is seen only with an effort". How would we know what this world has to offer if we don’t  give ourselves the chance to learn new things?  I was once told “Knowledge is knowing what you don’t know” I want to experience what the "cave" cannot offer. If I was in the cave i would like to know about the out side world and get knowledge about the out side world. Socrates next introduces something new to this scenario. Suppose that a prisoner is freed and permitted to stand up. If someone were to show him the things that had cast the shadows, he would not recognize them for what they were and could not name them; he would believe the shadows on the wall to be more real than what he sees.

As Truman begins to piece together the falsity of the world that surrounds him, his view of Seahaven is radically altered. He starts to question and analyze all that he encounters. I think in my life that has changed the way I process the world is by thinking about sertiant things that may come to a surprise to me because of the way it looks or how this happens and makes me believe that this can really happen or that I can really do this if I try. When I saw the movie it make me think thats sometimes life can really be a reality show and that people are watching you and you might not even know about it at all. Some time I can relate to the main character in the movie because when I was younger I use to think like him but like I got it straight and saw that everthing wasn't a reality show it was real life. I feel that Truman the main character had a hard life because most of his life was just make believe and not real. Then they took the girl that he feel in love with away because she told him the trueth about how his life was all fake and he really deserved to know the truth about his life and how it was a lie and how the people around him was fake intill he found out the truth by himself and he finally realized that everything around him wasnt real at all.

When you annotate a text, when you ask yourself questions about its contents, you are helping yourself to understand what you are reading. A summary of a source is usually a condensation of ideas or information. It is neither necessary nor desirable to include every repetition and detail. Before you can begin to summarize a paragragh you mustof course read the passage carefully and understand the significance of each idea and the way it is linked to the other ideas. Both the first and last sentences are possibilities but the first is a broader generalization and a more comprehensive summary. Usually even then you find a strong sentence that suggests the main idea if the paragraph you will still need to tinker with that sentence expanding its meaning by giving th language a more general focus. A comprehensive summary would have to include not only the essence.

The way i can past the CATW by takin notes proof read my work. I would need to take my time reading high light the main ideas and try to make everything ito my own words. Then i would make up my own main idea so that i can go with every first line in every paragraph. Then i will check for all missed spelled words. So think in order for me to pass the CATW o would need to do all these things that they are telling me to so that i would be able to pass..

Advertisment are the most prevalent and toxic of the mental pollutants. Commercial  pollution floods your brain at the rate of about three thousand marketing messages per day. Every day an estimated 12 billion display ads, 3 million radio commercials are dumped into north america's collective unconscious. No longer are ads confined to the usual places: buses, billboards, stadiums. In corporate america's view, can and ought to be filled with a logo or product message. Your kids watch pepsi and snickers ads in the classroom. A company called videocarte installs interactive screens on suppermarkets carts so that you can see ads while you shop. No one is exempt and no one will be spared. In the silent moments of my life, I often used to hear the beethoven's ninth symphony playing in my head. Now I hear that kids are singing the oscar meyer wiener song.....................
